Don’t add fluids when replacing a KYB cartridge-style strut
Mechanics sometimes find the strut body filled with fluid when they are replacing a strut’s cartridge. Do not put any water, oil, or any other liquids inside the strut housing when installing a KYB cartridge. Any existing fluid should be removed from the housing before installing the new cartridge. KYB cartridges are designed to operate without any additional liquids.
